Life Line

Hide your jealousy behind your cold, ceramic shell.  Accept I'm her favorite, her go-to, her vessel of choice for her daily dose of warm, caffeinated life. I'm the mug you desire to be.

Trifextra 33 Word Challenge

We want you to give us a 33-word example of personification.  Wait.  What?  You forget what that is?  It's the practice of attaching human traits and characteristics with inanimate objects, phenomena and animals (http://literary-devices.com).

Amazing how something so trivial can hold so much meaning. One of the things I got from my grandmother's house after her passing was an old Mother's Day mug from when I was a kid.
You captured that sentiment in 33 words!

My favourite mug is broken. Been like that for years. People say I should throw it out. But I won't.

Great closing line, "I'm the mug you desire to be." Ha! Ha! Great description of the world behind our cupboard doors. :)

I liked your piece. I can see that jealousy... I try to spread out my use to avoid such things. I do have my favorite though...

LOL - Too funny... I have a favorite plate, bowl, mug, glass, fork, spoon, knife... I wonder if they lord it over the other ones that I only use as a last resort if someone has had the audacity to use my favorites? Very good!

Blessings,
Cheryl

Mine is an old Federal Express mug before they became FedEx. Every mug has a story...

My favorite dropped and cleanly broken a week before the presidential elections. A simple quote, "Liberalism is a mental disorder," is now cleanly severed in half. Broken or not, I still feel the same about the mug and the expression.
