First Time's a Bitch

Brainstorming ideas for week 61 of the Trifecta Writing Challenge is a real bitch.

I don't know where to begin.  Is it cold feet?  Lack of inspiration?  Awareness that these ramblings may actually be read by someone other than my mother?

They say the first time's a bitch.  Man, does that hold true here.

I looked to the writings posted by the regulars, the over-achievers, the authors, the been-there, done-that crowd.  That only threw more of a wrench in this bitch of a mess I'm making here.  They're composed.  Polished.  Confident in their fiction voices and characters.

(I stopped reading after four samples so it's possible someone posted something less amazing.  But I doubt it.)

Me?  I'm simply a girl that blogs about what strikes her.  Confident in MY voice and MY character.

But all the rest?  Who knows?  Can I write fiction worthy of reading (by someone other than my mother)?  Am I more poetic than Dr. Seuss (who would have rhymed 'bitch' with 'stitch')?

I'm still figuring it all out.  And it's a bitch.

Trust me, we aren't as composed, polished and confident as you think. I know I'm far from perfect, and even farther from believing my writing is anywhere near good. This was a great post!

Welcome to the challenge - believe me when I say we (ok - *I*) feel the same way often. :)

one, thing . . . do consider getting rid of captcha.

Cute! I like it. Feel the same way as profanity isn't really one of my stronger writing skills.

Love it. I think you did just fine. Next time just go for it.

Nicely done. Most of us felt like that the first time, and some of us still feel that way. :)

Terrific entry into the Trifecta "community" hehehe.
(Seriously, leave your worries off the keyboard! You'll be fine.)

This was my first time too! Dipping your toes or diving in both equally achieve bravery points in this kind of thing. Kudos & keep writing!

Whose voice to express better how you feel than your own? Unless it's about your mum - then you could say someone else said it! ;) Nice work.

You're my hero Saucy Wench! Let's hear more. (No more than 333 words though!)

Don't give up! We love you, fellow Trifectan! (: Don't be discouraged by us over-achievers and regulars. It's the fresh faces that always bring something new, and Trifecta is better for it. And non-fiction works just as well.

Ha ha! This is great. I kind of wish that I'd kept track over the past year of the posts that refer directly to the challenge itself. I think you'd see that you're not alone with these feelings. But, like the others have already said, Trifecta is for everyone. We love the fiction, the poetry, the non-fiction, the beginners and the published authors. And our community-judged prompts (every third one) give the community a chance to tell us who they think should be winning, so hopefully that helps even things out a bit.

Thanks for joining up this week. I know it's a bitch, but we appreciate it.

Oh--and like Barbara said, you'll get more comments if you disable your word verification. Up to you.

Ha! I think all writes share this feeling of insecurity. Loved this piece. (but hate comment moderation! really, I'm not a robot. I just can't read those teeny tiny numbers.)

hehe word to all of this, yo.

Wow! What a warm welcome you've given me to the Trifecta world! Thank you so much for your kindness and support.

Also, thanks for the advice about captcha. I've disabled it....I think!

Yep. You're a writer and pretty good too. I love these prompts because there is not rule you have to write a made up story or tell about something from your own life. Good writing is good writing. Period.
